Duties and Responsibilities
The Township Supervisor oversees daily operations, financial planning, and transparent decision-making. These duties help the Supervisor maintain effective governance, address community needs, and ensure compliance with local requirements.
May appoint a deputy
Designates an individual to serve as assistant or backup to fulfill supervisor duties.
Township’s legal agent
Represents the township in legal matters and signs documents on its behalf.
Develops township budget
Prepares and presents the township’s financial plan for the upcoming year.
Moderates board and annual meetings
Leads and facilitates discussion so meetings run smoothly and remain focused on the agenda.
Chief assessing officer (if certified)
Oversees the property assessment process if they hold the proper certification.
Appoints some commission members
Selects individuals to serve on certain boards or commissions as needed.
Member of township elections commission
Participates in overseeing local elections and ensuring they run fairly.
Must maintain records of supervisor’s office
Tracks and preserves important office files and documentation.
Responsible for tax allocation board budget (if applicable)
Ensures the budget is managed properly and that funds are allocated as required.
May call special meetings
Schedules additional meetings when necessary to address urgent township business.
Secretary to Board of Review
Keeps and organizes meeting notes and official documents for the Board of Review.
